NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS

STEPHEN AUSHERMAN's literary travel stories include dispatches from Iraq and Honduras for Outpost, Vietnam and the Philippines for Grand Tour, and India and Tanzania for The Sun. The Knoxville Writers' Guild nominated his first novel for the 2001 Tennessee Book Award.
WALTER BARGEN has published eight books of poetry, the latest being Harmonic Balance (Timberline), published in March 2001. He has poems in recent issues of The Iowa Review, Faultline, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Pleiades. www.walterbargen.com.
HELEN BAROLINI, the author of seven books that reflect cross-cultural themes of Italy, is a recent visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. Her essay "How I Learned to Speak Italian" appeared in Best American Essays 1998. Her most recent book is More Italian Hours and Other Stories (Bordighera, 2001).
SAUL BENNETT is a new poet following a business career. His first poetry collection, New Fields and Other Stones/On a Child's Death was chosen in 1998 to launch Archer Books and received the Benjamin Franklin Silver Award. His second book is Harpo Marx at Prayer (Archer 2000). He and his wife, Joan, live in Woodstock, N.Y.
FRANCIS BLESSINGTON has published nine books, including a novel, The Last Witch of Dogtown (Curious Traveller) and Wolf Howl, a collection of poems (BkMk, 2000). He also has published numerous verse translations including Euripides' The Bacchae and Aristophanes' The Frogs (both Croft Classics, 1993). He teaches at Northeastern University.
KURT BROWN is the author of five award-winning chapbooks, and two full-length collections of poems: Return of the Prodigals and More Things in Heaven and Earth, both from Four Way Books. He resides in New York City.
JANET BURROWAY is an author of plays, poetry, children's books, and seven novels, including Cutting Stone (Houghton Mifflin) and Opening Nights (Atheneum). Her most recent book, Embalming Mom: Essays in Life, contains 6 essays first appearing in New Letters. Her textbook,
