kata\ [gap in text] to\ i)sxuro/n, by force of arms; cf. i. 76. 3.

tau)ta\ e)gi/nwskon: a synonym for ὁμοφρονέοντας; cf. ταὐτὰ φρονέειν, v. 3. 1, 72. 2, &c. The relative clause shows that this union is no mere possibility, but certain to occur, as it had before.

perigi/nesqai, = conquer, governs the accusative on the analogy of νικᾶν.
