This page and those following (unless otherwise noted) are part of the original host volume, which is a liturgical book for the Mass of the Roman Catholic church. The chant here is part of Pro Defunctis or Chant for the Dead. This was chant sung regularly, which is why a leather tab has been sewn onto the margin so it could be found easily. The page was used so often a repair was needed, which is why the script on the last staff had to be rewritten by a later scribe.
