This page is the first of the original host codex, which is a liturgical book for Mass, the religious service of the Roman Catholic church. It features five staves of notation and text with original decorated initials in red and blue at the beginning of a new chant, such as the Dedication of the Church seen here, with black initials to indicate accompanying psalms, versicles, and responses.
