MARYFRANCES WAGNER teaches English and creative writing. She has three collections of poetry: Tonight Cicadas Sing, Salvatore's Daughter (BkMk, 1995), and Red Silk (Mid-America, 1999), a winner of the Thorpe Menn Book Award.
NANCE VAN WINCKEL is the recipient of two NEA poetry fellowships, including one for 2001. Her fourth collection of poems, Beside Ourselves, will be released in 2003 by Miami University Press. A third collection of short stories, entitled Curtain Creek Farm, appeared recently from Persea Books.
SUSAN WHITMORE is the author of Sacrifices (Mellon) and The Invisible Woman (Singular Speech). She lives and works in Kansas City, Mo.
